About Dr. Karnezis

Dr. I. Karnezis is a highly experienced orthopedic and spine surgeon with more than 25 years of surgical practice. He has specialized in spinal surgery for over 18 years and has focused exclusively on this field for the past decade.

As Director of the Spine Department at HYGEIA Hospital in Athens, Dr. Karnezis is dedicated to delivering safe, effective, and personalized surgical care for complex spinal conditions.

 

Education & International Training

Dr. Karnezis completed all of his orthopedic and spinal surgery training in the United Kingdom. He successfully passed the UK Orthopedic Specialty Examination (FRCS) and completed advanced spinal surgery training at Oxford University Hospitals.

He holds two internationally recognized titles:

• FRCS(Tr&Orth) – Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK)

• FEBOT – Fellow of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology

Dr. Karnezis worked in the UK for more than 10 years, where he held the following positions:

• Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon

• Lecturer at the University of Bristol Medical School

His experience includes the treatment of a wide range of spinal disorders and the training of future surgeons.
